Google Unveils Game-Changing Upgrades for Meet Hardware Device Framing Controls
Discover Google’s Latest Meet Hardware Updates! Enhance your meeting experience with customizable framing controls. Say goodbye to camera adjustments and hello to seamless setups.
Google is rolling out some exciting updates for Meet hardware devices, aimed at enhancing user experience and simplifying meeting setups.
First off, admins now have the power to set a default framing option for their meeting spaces. This means no more scrambling to readjust camera settings at the start of every meeting – everything will be perfectly configured from the get-go.
But that’s not all. Google is also fine-tuning the framing support for whiteboards and remote-controlled Meet hardware devices like the Series One Desk 27 and Board 65. This ensures that camera framing is spot-on, even in these specific scenarios.
As for the appearance tweaks, Google has made some minor adjustments to the camera framing settings. On Android devices, the “Continuous framing” toggles have been replaced with a more intuitive “Framing by” toggle. And for third-party devices, you’ll now see options like “Framing by Logitech” or “Framing by Poly”.
Another notable change is the renaming of the “Home” button to “Reset to default”, making it clearer and more straightforward for users.
Admins can easily configure default camera framing options for individual Meet hardware devices through the settings menu.
Excitingly, these updates will start rolling out to both Rapid and Scheduled Release domains on May 14, 2024. And if you’re eagerly awaiting the new admin control, mark your calendar for May 21, 2024 – it’ll start appearing then and may take up to 15 days to be fully visible across all domains.
