Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Outshines Singham Again: Day 9 Box Office Collections Surge in Favor of Horror Comedy

Day 9 box office face-off between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again reveals a compelling turn as Kartik Aaryan’s film gains the upper hand. Discover how both franchises are faring in audience occupancy and weekend collections.

This Diwali season witnessed a high-stakes box office battle as two major Hindi franchises faced off: Rohit Shetty’s star-studded Singham Again and Anees Bazmee’s spine-tingling Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. Both films are the third installment in their respective franchises, loaded with audience anticipation and immense box office expectations. On the ninth day since their release, both films have maintained double-digit earnings, but Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has pulled ahead, capitalizing on a significant boost in weekend collections.
As of Saturday, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, featuring Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Vidya Balan, saw an impressive upswing, raking in close to ₹15.5 crore, a significant increase from its earlier ₹10 crore mark on Thursday and Friday. Meanwhile, Singham Again, with an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and cameo appearances by stars like Deepika Padukone and Akshay Kumar, held steady at ₹11.5 crore. The two films now stand at cumulative domestic collections of ₹183 crore for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and ₹192.5 crore for Singham Again, though the former’s recent momentum hints at potential leadership in the coming days.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 may have had a relatively smaller opening weekend, amassing ₹106 crore compared to Singham Again’s massive ₹121.75 crore, but it has steadily narrowed the gap. The horror-comedy’s consistent performance and weekend boost are noteworthy, especially given the initial traction enjoyed by Singham Again.

Box Office Occupancy: A Key Indicator of Audience Preferences

Audience occupancy metrics reveal a nuanced look at each film’s performance across key markets. Nationwide, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 holds on with nearly 36% occupancy during its second week, in contrast to Singham Again, which has maintained around 30% occupancy. Major cities like Mumbai and the NCR region underscore this trend: in Mumbai, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 achieved a 44.5% occupancy rate across 801 shows, compared to Singham Again‘s 38.5% across 814 shows. Similar dynamics played out in the NCR, with BB3 drawing a 34.75% occupancy across 1060 shows against Singham Again’s 25% across 906 shows. The numbers suggest that audience interest in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is far from waning, hinting at a potential surge in collections.

Final Outlook: What Lies Ahead for These Blockbusters?

With Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 gaining traction and consistently outpacing Singham Again in terms of audience occupancy and recent box office collections, it may soon edge out its action-packed counterpart in the domestic market. This evolving competition highlights how varied genres—action drama versus horror comedy—can influence viewer preferences, especially in extended box office runs. The outcome of this Diwali clash remains intriguing, as the long-term resilience of each film will ultimately determine the frontrunner.
