Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for all levels of government, from panchayats to the central government, to work in “mission mode” to improve the ease of living for the middle class. Speaking on India’s 78th Independence Day from the Red Fort, he highlighted the importance of governance reforms and reducing compliance, even at the panchayat level.
He reiterated that by 2047, his government aims for minimal governance for the middle class, with efforts to reduce unnecessary regulations and penalties. Modi also touched on dignity for transgenders and reiterated his vision of a developed India by 2047, built on the principle of ‘Nation First.’
He also mentioned significant reforms in the banking sector, liberalization of FDI norms in the space sector, and the importance of technology-driven economic growth. He assured faster project implementation and highlighted efforts to improve India’s education system to attract foreign students.
Additionally, Modi emphasized reviving the spirit of Nalanda in education, promoting learning in the mother tongue, and allocating ₹1 lakh crore for research and development in the budget.
