Fans eagerly awaiting Prashanth Neel’s ‘Salaar 2: Shouryanga Parvam’ were recently hit with rumors that the film had been shelved. However, the makers swiftly quashed these speculations with a sarcastic post on X.
‘Salaar 1: Ceasefire,’ released on December 22, 2023, faced competition from SRK’s ‘Dunki’ but emerged as a massive hit, grossing around 715 crores on a 270 crore budget. It became the highest-grossing Telugu film of 2023, featuring an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sriya Reddy, and Shruti Haasan. The first film, set in the dystopian city of Khansaar, focused on the growing camaraderie between Prabhas’ Deva and Sukumaran’s Varadha. The highly anticipated sequel is set to release in late 2025, continuing this narrative.
Amidst the excitement, reports from Hindustan Times indicated that Prabhas and Sukumaran would start filming the sequel in June. However, a Telugu360 report fueled rumors of shelving due to alleged creative differences between Prabhas and Prashanth Neel, and Neel’s upcoming project with Jr NTR.
To dispel these rumors, the makers shared a behind-the-scenes photo on X of Prabhas and Prashanth laughing together, captioned “They can’t stop laughing.” Fans interpreted this as a sarcastic response to the speculation.
In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, Prabhas hinted at the sequel’s themes, stating, “The relevance of all of this will only complement the friendship and enmity between Deva and Varadha. And that is how I want to finish off ‘Salaar 2’; that was the whole intention.”
Given the commercial success of the first film, expectations are high for ‘Salaar 2’ to match or exceed its predecessor’s achievements.
