India Strikes a High Note at the GRAMMYs: AR Rahman, PM Modi, and a Symphony of Wins Celebrate Music Excellence

AR Rahman took to social media to share images with the Grammy winners from India, declaring, ‘India is making a splash at the GRAMMYs.’ PM Narendra Modi displayed commendable sportsmanship by congratulating the Indian Grammy winners, even as his song ‘Abundance in Millets’ missed out on the prestigious awards. Using the platform formerly known as Twitter, he extended heartfelt congratulations to the five winners – Rakesh Chaurasia, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, and Ganesh Rajagopalan – for bringing pride to India.
The 66th Grammy Awards took place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where India clinched a remarkable victory with five musicians winning a total of eight awards. Modi’s tweet praised the exceptional talent and dedication of Zakir Hussain, Rakesh Chaurasia, Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, and Ganesh Rajagopalan, expressing pride in their global recognition. He acknowledged their achievements as a testament to hard work and an inspiration for the upcoming generation of artists.
Two-time Grammy Award winner AR Rahman also celebrated the success of Indian musicians at the prestigious awards. He shared a selfie with Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, and Selavaganesh, joyfully noting, “It’s raining #GRAMMYs for India. Congrats Grammy winners.”
Similarly, Ricky Kej, a three-time Grammy Award winner, shared detailed information about the Indian Grammy winners. He expressed his enjoyment at the Grammys and listed the recipients, including living legends like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Rakesh Chaurasia.
This year, five Indian musicians achieved Grammy success, with tabla maestro Zakir Hussain securing three awards. The collaboration with Bela Flecks earned Zakir and Rakesh Chaurasia a Grammy for the song ‘As We Speak.’ Additionally, Zakir Hussain, along with fellow Shakti band members Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, and Ganesh Rajagopalan, received two more Grammys for the Best Global Music Album. The Indian contingent’s triumph at the Grammys highlights the nation’s prowess and diversity in the global music landscape.
