Tesla Plans Recall of 1.6 Million Cars in China for Steering Software Fix, Says Regulator As of now, a total of 1,610,105 imported electric vehicles, including Model S, Model X, and Model 3, as well as domestic Model 3 and Model Y produced between August 26, 2014, and December 20, 2023, are set to undergo recall, according to a statement by the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) posted online. The SAMR highlighted that for vehicles falling under this recall, there’s a potential issue with the automatic assisted steering function. Specifically, there is a risk of driver misuse of the level two combined assisted driving function, elevating the likelihood of vehicle collisions and posing safety concerns. In addition, the recall encompasses 7,538 imported Tesla models manufactured between October 26, 2022, and November 16, 2023, which were identified to have a problem related to the door unlock logic controls.
