T-Mobile Boosts High-Speed Internet with Nokia’s Innovative Fixed-Wireless Solution

T-Mobile is set to revolutionize its High-Speed Internet service by teaming up with Nokia and deploying a cutting-edge fixed-wireless solution. This innovative collaboration aims to enhance service capacity, scalability, and delivery speed, ensuring a seamless broadband experience for every customer. The Nokia solution, known as Multi-Access Gateway (MAG), efficiently utilizes advanced technology to bring affordable and reliable broadband services to more homes. The partnership promises not only to simplify T-Mobile’s architecture but also to reduce operational efforts and contribute to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
T-Mobile has teamed up with Nokia to introduce a dedicated gateway solution that supports various cutting-edge technologies for its High-Speed Internet (HSI) service. Nokia’s Multi-Access Gateway (MAG) will be deployed to boost capacity, scalability, and the speed of delivering services.
Federico Guillén, President of Network Infrastructure at Nokia, expressed satisfaction in collaborating with T-Mobile. He highlighted that Nokia’s MAG solution, utilizing advanced FP5 IP routing silicon, will help T-Mobile enhance service capacity, scalability, and speed.
Nokia’s Multi-Access Gateway is expected to enable T-Mobile to offer an affordable, reliable, and seamless broadband experience to every customer. Leveraging the 7750 Service Routers, the solution efficiently delivers broadband services over fixed-wireless access technologies, rapidly expanding coverage for high-speed broadband services.
The MAG solution combines the throughput and power efficiency of an NPU-assisted user-plane architecture on 7750 SR systems, providing the flexibility of the 3GPP control-plane architecture. Nokia’s platform allows T-Mobile to incrementally scale bandwidth for its HSI traffic, reaching multiple Terabits-per-second, all while maintaining significant power and space efficiency.
As T-Mobile extends its HSI service to more homes, the Nokia MAG solution promises higher bandwidth with reduced space and power requirements. John Saw, EVP Chief Technology Officer for T-Mobile, expressed excitement about partnering with Nokia, emphasizing that the MAG solution will simplify their architecture, reduce operational management efforts, and contribute to lowering their energy footprint.
