Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, has issued a stark warning to South Korea, expressing her deep regret that Seoul refuses to acknowledge responsibility for a recent incident involving drones reportedly flying over Pyongyang. She cautioned that if such actions continue, South Korea could face a “terrible calamity.” Her statement comes a day after North Korea’s Ministry of Defense claimed that leaflets criticizing North Korean propaganda were spotted earlier in the week, escalating tensions between the two countries.

The North Korean Ministry of Defense declared that the military is prepared to retaliate using “all means of attack” and would respond without warning if provoked again. This heightened rhetoric has raised concerns over the potential for armed conflict between the two nations. Kim Yo Jong further suggested that South Korea’s vague and evasive response to the situation implies their involvement, stating they are “either the main culprit or an accomplice in this incident.”

Kim Yo Jong also criticized South Korea’s military for allegedly standing by while its citizens used drones—commonly recognized as dual-use military tools—to violate North Korean airspace. She argued that such an act not only breaches sovereignty but also increases the risk of an armed confrontation. If South Korean authorities allowed this to happen, she stated, it would be considered intentional collusion and a grave provocation.

In a final, ominous warning, she stressed that the moment another South Korean drone is detected over Pyongyang’s skies, the consequences would be severe, and a “terrible calamity” would follow. Despite her strong language, she expressed a personal hope that this disastrous outcome could still be avoided if South Korea refrains from further provocations.
