Google’s Search Tools Now Speak More Languages, Opening Doors for Everyone
Google is making some improvements to its Search features, making them available in more languages so that more people can benefit from them.
One of the features, called “About this page,” which gives you extra information about a search result, is now accessible in 40 additional languages worldwide. These languages include French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
This feature allows you to preview a website before you decide to visit it. By clicking on the three dots next to a search result, you can choose the “more about this page” option to see details like how Wikipedia describes the site (if available) and what others are saying about it on the web.
Another feature, “About this image,” lets you quickly find out the background and context of images you come across online. Simply click on the three dots next to an image in Google Images to access this tool, or use the “more about this page” option in the About this result tool on search results.
Initially available only in English, this image feature is now expanding to support 40 more languages, including French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Additionally, there’s a new tool called Fact Check Explorer, which is now out of beta. This tool allows you to upload or paste the link of an image into it to see if it has been used in any existing fact checks. Journalists and fact-checkers can also utilize the Fact Check Tools API to display relevant fact checks directly on their websites.
Google emphasizes that these tools can provide the context you need to feel more confident about the content you encounter online, whether it’s verifying an image or checking the credibility of a website. They encourage users to try out these features in Search to enhance their online experience.
