Frankly Speaking

Episodes 3 and 4 of ‘Frankly Speaking’ Coming Soon with Growing Fanbase

JTBC’s newest romantic comedy, “Frankly Speaking,” is making waves with its perfect mix of humor and heartfelt drama. Premiering on May 1, 2024, the show stars Go Kyung Pyo as Song Ki Baek, a charming news anchor with an unusual twist – he can’t lie. This quirky condition turns his life upside down, leading to hilariously awkward situations both at work and in his personal life.
Available on Netflix too, the series delves into how Ki Baek’s honesty shakes up his career as a beloved radio announcer at Ultra FM. His blunt truthfulness becomes a headache for his colleagues and bosses, resulting in his suspension. But this setback sets the stage for Ki Baek’s journey of self-discovery and redemption, a storyline that promises to unfold in the upcoming episodes.
Kang Han Na plays On Woo Ju, a sharp and driven variety show writer who sees potential in Ki Baek’s honesty for creating captivating TV content. Their dynamic adds depth to the plot as they navigate professional and possibly romantic waters.
The first two episodes introduced us to these characters and the chaos they bring, hinting at more laughs and drama to come. Episode two even saw a rise in viewership, indicating good things ahead for the series.
As we gear up for episodes 3 and 4 on May 8 and 9, expect the plot to thicken. Ki Baek will struggle to piece his life back together after his disorder flips it on its head. Viewers can look forward to a mix of laughs and touching moments as he tries to salvage his reputation and adjust to his new reality. And of course, we’ll likely see sparks fly between Ki Baek and Woo Ju, adding a dash of romance to the mix.
The series owes much of its appeal to the direction of Jang Ji-yeon and the scriptwriting of Choi Kyung. Jang Ji-yeon, known for her work on “Nevertheless,” brings a deft touch to the comedic and emotional aspects of “Frankly Speaking.” Choi Kyung’s skillful writing, showcased in “CHIP-IN,” brings out the characters’ vulnerabilities and strengths in a captivating way.
“Frankly Speaking” isn’t just about entertainment – it’s a reflection on the pressures of public life and the search for authenticity in a world obsessed with appearances. It challenges the norms of typical rom-coms by offering fresh perspectives on personal integrity and professional hurdles.
With a total of 12 episodes, each around 80 minutes long, “Frankly Speaking” promises not only entertainment but also a refreshing take on romantic comedy. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or a newcomer to K-dramas, keep an eye on Netflix for the next chapters of Song Ki Baek’s unfiltered journey.
