Microsoft is testing a new feature that allows Android users to access their phone files directly from Windows 11 File Explorer. This feature is gradually being rolled out to Windows testers with Android phones across different Windows Insider channels, as confirmed in a recent official blog post.
Functionality
When integrated with File Explorer, your Android device will appear similarly to a USB device on the left side, allowing you to: – Copy and move files between your PC and Android device – Rename and delete files
This process will be faster than using the existing Phone Link app.
How to Use the Feature
Although the feature is still in the testing phase, you can try it out by enrolling in the Windows Insider program. Here’s how: 1. Go to settings 2. Select Bluetooth and devices 3. Click on mobile devices 4. Select manage devices 5. Grant permissions for your PC to connect with your Android phone
You’ll see a prompt to toggle access for File Explorer, notifications, and camera access.
Requirements
– Devices powered by Android 11 or later
Benefits
This feature will be especially beneficial for users who rely on both PC and Android devices for work. It allows for easy access to important documents and files on the go and simplifies the sharing and downloading of documents.
