Aamir Khan Announces Sarfarosh 2: Sequel in the Works

Two and a half decades following the success of Sarfarosh, Aamir Khan has confirmed plans for its sequel. During the 25th-anniversary special premiere of the original film, Khan revealed his intention to collaborate on the sequel and encouraged director John Matthew Matthan to embark on the project.
“I can assure you of one thing: we will earnestly endeavor to craft the right script and the perfect film for it. So John, it’s time for you to get to work,” expressed Aamir, adding, “Sarfarosh 2 should definitely happen; I strongly believe so.”
Released on April 30, 1999, Sarfarosh, directed by John Matthew Matthan, featured an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Sonali Bendre, Naseeruddin Shah, Makarand Deshpande, Rajesh Joshi, Smita Jaykar, Manoj Joshi, Upasna Singh, Surekha Sikri, Akhilendra Mishra, and Akash Khurana in pivotal roles.
The storyline of Sarfarosh centered around ACP Ajay Rathod, portrayed by Aamir Khan, as he investigated a series of terrorist activities plaguing India. Rathod’s relentless pursuit eventually led to the unmasking of the mastermind behind the attacks, a Pakistani arms dealer. The film delved into themes of cross-border terrorism and illicit arms trafficking, resonating strongly with audiences.
