WhatsApp is testing a new AI tool called ‘Imagine Me’. Here’s what it does

Meta-owned WhatsApp recently introduced Meta AI chatbots in select markets, including India. Now, it is testing a new AI feature that allows users to create personalized stickers or AI avatars from their photos.
WABetaInfo discovered the ‘Imagine Me’ feature via a leaked screenshot. It enables users to generate images of themselves using the Meta AI chatbot. Users will be asked to upload a few selfies when they opt into the feature, allowing them to create AI-generated stickers.
This feature offers a creative alternative to standard profile pictures, letting users personalize their profile with AI-generated avatars. WABetaInfo confirmed the feature’s presence in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.14.13).
The ‘Imagine Me’ feature will be optional and must be manually enabled in settings. It will also offer customizable backgrounds and locations, like forests and space, to enhance profile avatars.
WABetaInfo also notes that this feature will be available in future updates. Users can start it by typing “@Meta AI Imagine me.” The Meta AI chatbot, powered by the Llama 3 large language model (LLM), is currently available on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger apps.
