Truecaller Finally Brings Live Caller ID to iPhones: Here’s How to Activate It

Summary
Truecaller has launched its live caller ID feature for iPhones, which has long been a key function for Android users. iPhone users will now receive real-time caller identification and have access to spam call-blocking features. Truecaller also allows searching for up to 2,000 previously identified numbers. The feature is available to both free and premium users, although premium users get an ad-free experience. To enable the feature, iPhone users need iOS 14.0 or later and must adjust settings in the Phone app.

Truecaller, a popular app among Android users, has faced limited functionality on iPhones, primarily due to the absence of its key feature—live caller ID. While iPhone users could search numbers later in the app, they weren’t notified in real-time about incoming calls. That has now changed. On Wednesday, Truecaller announced the launch of its live caller ID feature for iPhone users.

Truecaller Comes to iPhones

The feature was first teased by Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi in September 2024, with hopes that users would soon be able to say, “Truecaller finally works on iPhones.”

While the update is a significant step, it will be interesting to see how this affects the app’s usage, especially considering Apple’s own caller ID lookup feature, which automatically suggests the caller based on data from messages and emails. Truecaller, however, benefits from a far larger database of phone numbers and IDs, making its suggestions more accurate.

Additionally, iPhone users can now use Truecaller’s spam call-blocking feature. They will also have the ability to search up to 2,000 previously identified numbers in their recent call history on the Phone app.

Availability

The number search and caller ID features are exclusive to Truecaller Premium users. However, free users will still be able to access the feature, albeit with ads. The spam-blocking feature, on the other hand, is available to all users globally. The live caller ID feature began rolling out on January 22.

How to Enable Caller ID on Truecaller iOS App

To enable live caller ID, ensure your iPhone is running iOS 14.0 or later. Then, follow these steps:
1. Go to *Settings* > **Apps* > *Phone* > *Call Blocking & Identification*.
2. Enable all switches for Truecaller.
3. Open the Truecaller app, and the setup will complete automatically.

Enjoy enhanced caller identification and spam blocking!
