Google Enhances Chrome with Real-Time Safe Browsing Features

Google’s Safe Browsing technology is a digital guardian for countless devices around the globe, offering robust defense mechanisms against threats like phishing, malware, and undesirable software. The tech behemoth is now enhancing Safe Browsing with a cutting-edge feature for Chrome users on desktop and iOS platforms: real-time, privacy-focused URL scanning.
With this upgrade, Chrome’s Standard protection mode will actively compare visited sites with a constantly updated list of unsafe sites maintained by Google. When a potentially hazardous site is encountered, users will be promptly warned, providing insights into the risks involved. This advancement is set to extend to Android users shortly.
This real-time site verification is projected to increase the efficiency of phishing detection by 25%. Google assures that the implementation of this feature is designed with privacy at its core. Through the use of encryption and various privacy-protection measures, your browsing details remain confidential, even to Google. Despite the additional processing required for this feature, Google has prioritized maintaining a seamless and swift browsing experience.
Moreover, Google is introducing enhanced password security features for Chrome on iOS. The latest update includes alerts for weak, reused, or compromised passwords. Chrome will notify users of any security concerns regarding their passwords, which can be monitored through the Safety Check feature in Chrome Settings.
