Sources close to the startups, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, told Reuters that the program offers access to the world’s largest defense and space market, with potential collaborations with major US defense contractors such as Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, and RTX. This access is expected to provide a competitive edge in securing US contracts in their respective niches, with an estimated market worth of $1.5 billion annually. This development follows a recent meeting in New Delhi between Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his US counterpart Jake Sullivan, where they discussed space technology collaboration and enhanced cooperation between the US Defense Innovation Unit and India’s Innovations for Defense Excellence.
