OpenAI’s Japan CEO Confirms New GPT Model to Be 100x More Powerful Than GPT-4

OpenAI’s upcoming model, GPT-Next, is set to revolutionize AI with performance 100 times greater than GPT-4, according to OpenAI Japan CEO, Tadao Nagasaki. First introduced at an event in Paris in May, GPT-Next promises enhanced multimodal capabilities and smarter training methods, boosting AI functionality significantly. Nagasaki shared this update at the KDDI Summit 2024, confirming that the new model is arriving soon.

Project Strawberry: OpenAI’s Ambition for AGI

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently hinted at “Project Strawberry,” previously known as Project Q-Star, aimed at achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Unlike previous models, improvements in GPT-Next will focus on architectural enhancements rather than relying solely on massive computing power, ensuring more accurate and efficient responses for users.

Exponential Growth and Future Prospects:

Nagasaki also highlighted that ChatGPT now boasts over 200 million active users globally, reflecting OpenAI’s rapid progress in AI research. He emphasized the transformative potential of GPT-Next compared to previous versions like GPT-3 and GPT-4, positioning it as a major leap forward.
Earlier this year, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati introduced GPT4o, a model twice as fast and 50% cheaper than GPT-4 Turbo. With GPT-Next set to be 100 times better than GPT-4, it promises to deliver a more advanced and intelligent ChatGPT experience, marking a new era in AI innovation.
