Netflix’s ‘900 Days Without Anabel’ Premieres: Unveiling Spain’s Longest Kidnapping Case

Discover Netflix’s gripping docuseries 900 Days Without Anabel, revealing the truth behind Spain’s longest kidnapping case. Premieres November 22, 2024.

Netflix is set to debut a compelling documentary series, 900 Days Without Anabel, on November 22, 2024. This series uncovers a chilling account of Spain’s longest kidnapping case—the abduction of Anabel Segura, a young woman whose disappearance shook the nation for nearly three years.

Anabel’s kidnapping left the country in a state of constant fear and uncertainty. From 1993 to 1995, the ordeal lasted 900 agonizing days. During this period, Spanish society rallied, taking to the streets in widespread efforts to demand her safe return. Time seemed to stand still for Anabel’s family and those following the case, with every moment hinging on the hope for her release. Crucial negotiations between the kidnappers and the Segura family’s representative spanned 14 tense phone calls, all of which are now being publicly shared for the first time, 30 years after the case was resolved.

This groundbreaking docuseries offers a rare opportunity to hear these conversations in full, alongside the firsthand accounts of the police officers who tackled the case. Their efforts would go on to shape protocols for handling future abductions, specifically in what is now known as “express kidnappings.”

The docuseries, directed and co-written by investigative journalist Mónica Palomero, promises to deliver an unprecedented inside look at the case. Palomero, who has also directed critically acclaimed programs such as Fuera de Cobertura and Malaya: Secret Operation, reflects on the production, stating, “Listening to the tapes and speaking to key figures in the investigation allowed us to dispel long-standing myths and provide an insider perspective on the case. 900 Days Without Anabel tells the story in a way that had never been told before, uncovering the truth behind a tragedy that stunned Spain.”

Produced by Señor Mono (En El Nombre De Ellas) and led by Iñigo Pérez-Tabernero and Toño Sanchís (Loveo Audiovisual), the docuseries is expected to grip viewers with its in-depth investigative approach and raw portrayal of a harrowing chapter in Spanish history.
