NASA has issued a warning about a massive asteroid named 2011 AM24, which is approaching Earth. This stadium-sized asteroid, roughly 880 feet in diameter, is traveling towards our planet at high speed. It is expected to make its closest approach on July 26, 2024, but will safely pass at a distance of 6,450,000 kilometers—far beyond the Moon’s orbit.

On the same day, another asteroid, 2024 MH1, will also approach Earth. This one is significantly smaller, at about 91 feet in diameter, and will come within 1,120,000 miles of our planet. This distance is still well beyond any immediate threat.

NASA’s Near-Earth Object Observations Program monitors these celestial objects to track their trajectories and assess potential threats. Although the approach of large asteroids can be concerning, NASA assures the public that both 2011 AM24 and 2024 MH1 will pass Earth at safe distances with no danger to our planet.
