After 18 years, director S Shankar and Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan reunite for the sequel to their 1996 cult vigilante film, “Indian”. The trailer for “Indian 2” promises a gripping narrative filled with action and patriotism.
The trailer sets the stage with widespread crime and societal issues plaguing the nation, highlighting themes such as unemployment, heavy taxation, and inadequate infrastructure. Siddharth’s character confronts these challenges and invokes his childhood hero, Senapathy (played by Kamal Haasan), a formidable vigilante who has retreated to the mountains.
However, Senapathy resurfaces to confront corrupt businessmen and other wrongdoers, engaging in intense action sequences, including a notable shirtless fight scene. He also showcases his mastery of disguise to outwit his adversaries. When challenged about his methods conflicting with his ideals of honesty, Senapathy argues for a more aggressive approach akin to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s principles, contrasting with Siddharth’s character’s Gandhian perspective.
“Indian 2” features a star-studded cast including Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, S. J. Suryah, and others. Produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, the film is slated for release on July 12 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages.
