Harvard Professor Amazed by High-Tech Chai at Maha Kumbh Mela: 1 Crore Cups from Just 10 Tea Stalls

In the post, Khanna shared fascinating observations from the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, especially regarding Chai Point’s innovative approach to serving chai at the event. Chai Point, a government-endorsed venture, is using state-of-the-art robots to make high-quality tea at affordable prices, aiming to serve millions of cups during the Mela.

The tweet also highlighted the security measures at the Mela, which include India’s para-commandos, high-tech infrastructure with monitoring systems akin to NASA’s, drones, and sensors for problem-solving and security.

The Maha Kumbh Mela, the largest human gathering in the world, is expected to draw over 250 million people, with peak attendance reaching 50 million daily in a temporary megacity. Chai Point, in collaboration with the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF), aims to break the Guinness World Record by serving over 1 crore cups of tea at the event. Each cup will include milk from Nandini and various sweets and milkshakes from the same brand.

Chai Point’s technology-driven approach ensures large volumes of tea are served quickly while maintaining hygiene and sustainability. Their tea-making machines can produce 15 liters of chai in just 12 minutes.
