The Indian government has issued a “High” severity warning for Google Chrome due to multiple vulnerabilities in some versions of the browser. CERT-In, the government agency responsible for identifying security issues, has reported flaws in Chrome that could allow scammers to remotely attack systems by bypassing security measures.
How It Affects Users
The vulnerabilities in Chrome could enable attackers to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system, compromising device security and allowing access to sensitive data such as passwords, banking details, and addresses. This could lead to financial and banking frauds.
Affected Chrome Versions
These security flaws affect Chrome versions prior to 128.0.6613.119/.120 for Windows and Mac, and Chrome versions prior to 128.0.6613.119 for Linux.
What Users Should Do
CERT-In advises users to update their Chrome browser to the latest version immediately. Google has already started rolling out the Chrome 128 update across Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.
How to Update Chrome
1. Open Google Chrome and click on the three dots in the top right corner.
2. Click on “Help” and select “About Chrome.”
3. Chrome will automatically check for updates and install the latest version.
4. Restart Chrome when prompted to complete the update.
