In December 2023, Prabhas joined forces with Prashanth Neel for the first time under Hombale Films’ banner in Salaar. The film garnered a staggering Rs 617 crore worldwide and concluded with a cliffhanger, teasing a conflict in the sequel between Prabhas and Prithviraj. Since then, anticipation has been building around the sequel’s prospects.
Recent updates reveal that 20 percent of Salaar 2 has already been filmed, with the next phase scheduled to begin on August 10 at Ramoji Film City. “Prashanth Neel has already shot a significant portion of the sequel alongside Prabhas and Prithviraj during the Salaar production. The upcoming schedule will kick off on an existing set at Ramoji Film City,” a close source disclosed, attributing the delay from June to weather conditions and scheduling conflicts.
Hombale Films confirmed exclusively to Pinkvilla that Salaar 2 will unfold over an eight-month span starting in August, aiming for a release by the end of 2025. “Prashanth Neel has committed to directing two feature films—Salaar 2 and Dragon with NTR Jr.—throughout 2024 and 2025. Detailed schedules have been mapped out for both projects, ensuring a seamless journey with two of the industry’s top stars,” the source elaborated.
Expectations are high as Prabhas, Neel, Prithviraj, and Hombale express confidence in Salaar 2’s narrative depth. “The sequel promises to unveil intricate drama and political dynamics. Audiences will witness a fresh dynamic between Prabhas and Prithviraj, adding intensity to the storytelling. The storyline was conceptualized during the pandemic and is now set to unfold on a grand scale,” the source concluded.
