Exciting updates are surfacing about ‘Dhadkan 2’! Indeed, the beloved romantic drama starring Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, and Suniel Shetty in pivotal roles is poised for a sequel. Dharmesh Darshan, the director behind the original 2000 release, aims to infuse the upcoming film with a contemporary twist, according to recent reports.
Fresh Approach to Modern Cinema in ‘Dhadkan 2’
Dharmesh Darshan, in discussions with Bollywood Hungama, shared insights into his plans for the sequel to ‘Dhadkan,’ featuring Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, and Suniel Shetty. He suggested that while the film may or may not directly follow the storyline of his classic from 2000, it will offer an “entirely fresh perspective on modern cinema, helmed by a reinvented Dharmesh Sheela Darshan.”
Expressing his readiness to return to the director’s chair, Darshan affirmed, “If the cinematic world calls for my presence, I’m always ready, especially given my age and positive outlook.”
Upset Among Influential Actors Over Casting Decisions for ‘Dhadkan’
In a 2017 interview with Hindustan Times, Dharmesh Darshan disclosed that several prominent personalities had expressed disappointment over not being cast in ‘Dhadkan.’ Following the success of ‘Raja Hindustani’ in 1996, expectations were high for Darshan’s next venture. However, the selection of Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, and Suniel Shetty in leading roles for ‘Dhadkan’ didn’t sit well with some influential figures.
The director explained, “Though I say this with the utmost respect and without any intent to patronize, at that time, casting them as leads was quite daring due to their ongoing challenging phases.”
