Apple is reportedly set for substantial software and hardware updates in 2024, with AI-based features in iOS 18 on the horizon. In the latest ‘Power On’ newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman hints at Apple’s ambitious plans for March 2024. The rumored announcements include the long-awaited Apple iPads, alongside new MacBook Air models featuring M3 processors. Gurman suggests significant enhancements for the iPad Pro, followed by the iPad Air and MacBook laptops, potentially in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. The expected launch window for these devices is before the end of March, with production already underway for the iPad Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air. iOS 17.4 also hints at new accessories, such as Magic Keyboards and Apple Pencils. The iPad Pro may feature a Face ID-compatible camera. Additionally, the 2024 MacBook Air models are speculated to introduce hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading for enhanced gaming experiences. The iPad Air might come in two display sizes (12.9-inch and 10.9-inch) with an M2 CPU and a redesigned rear camera module. The upcoming iPad Pro could offer 11-inch and 13-inch screen options with a high-refresh-rate OLED panel, potentially resulting in a price increase. Features like the M3 chip, MagSafe wireless charging, and a landscape-oriented front camera might be part of the model. Wi-Fi 6E is expected across all devices. Furthermore, Gurman mentions a delay in Apple’s electric vehicle launch, now anticipated around 2028 instead of the previously suggested 2026. The self-driving technology is reportedly scaled back to Level 2+, and if issues persist, the unit responsible for it might face restructuring.
