WhatsApp’s Green Verification Mark to Turn Blue: User Benefits Explained

WhatsApp, a popular messaging app with millions of users in India, is a key platform for businesses to interact with customers, address queries, and even take orders. Until now, verified businesses were identified by a green checkmark next to their name. However, this is set to change soon.
According to a report by WA Beta Info, WhatsApp is rolling out an update that will replace the green checkmark with a blue one for verified businesses. Verified channels will also receive this blue checkmark. The update aims to standardize verification badges across all Meta platforms, similar to Instagram and Facebook’s blue checkmarks. WhatsApp is currently testing this change, and some beta users can already see the new blue checkmark.
A screenshot shared by the publication shows the blue checkmark replacing the old green badge, aligning WhatsApp’s look with other Meta platforms for a unified experience. The blue checkmark will continue to signify authenticity, ensuring users they are interacting with verified businesses or channels. This change aims to enhance user trust and reduce the risk of impersonation.
