Ukraine Claims Russia Deploys 7,000 North Korean Troops Armed with AK-12s and Mortars to Frontline

Previously, South Korea and Western nations cautioned that North Korean military support for Russia could heighten security risks in Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

According to Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (DIU), the North Korean troops were moved from Russia’s coastal regions to Ukrainian borders using at least 28 Russian military transport planes. Moscow has reportedly supplied them with weapons, including mortars, sniper rifles, anti-tank guided missiles, and night vision equipment. Currently, the North Korean forces are undergoing training at five locations in Russia’s Far East, potentially in preparation to bolster Russia’s offensive capabilities in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces are countering what they describe as the strongest Russian attack since the early days of the invasion. In recent months, Russian advances have been reported at a pace not seen since March 2022, as Ukrainian forces strive to hold back a possible large-scale offensive, stated General Oleksandr Syrskyi.
