Newly Released: ‘Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes’ Sells 12,000 Tickets for Opening Day in India

“Advance sales for “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” have reached 12,000 tickets across major chains in India for its opening day. Despite being part of the renowned “Planet Of The Apes” franchise and directed by Wes Ball, with actors Owen Teague and Freya Allan, the advance bookings have fallen slightly short of expectations. Typically, Hollywood franchise films rely heavily on star power rather than trends, making the anticipated lower opening a cause for concern.
“Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” is projected to debut with around Rs 2.5 crores nett based on advance bookings, with the potential for a double-digit weekend if public reception is favorable. Its simultaneous release alongside “Srikanth” is not seen as a significant issue, as both films cater to different audiences, and there is ample exhibition space for both.
However, expectations remain modest for “Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” in the domestic market, with trade experts anticipating its opening weekend to fall short of its predecessors. With a budget exceeding $160 million, the film will need to gross over $400 million theatrically to break even. Yet, it benefits from the robust non-theatrical revenue generated by the “Planet Of The Apes” franchise through home media, satellite rights, digital rights, and merchandise sales.
The film’s narrative follows the aftermath of Caesar’s demise, with apes divided into various clans. The protagonist, Noa, embarks on a journey to reunite his clan after a devastating attack orchestrated by Proximus Caesar. Alongside the central plot, the story delves into the complexities of ape-human dynamics, unveiling hidden truths and agendas.
“Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes” is currently screening in theaters, offering audiences an immersive cinematic experience.
