Modi Cabinet 2024: Full List of Ministers in Narendra Modi’s Third Government

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi is set to take oath on Sunday for a third consecutive term, leading a coalition government after two full terms where the BJP held a majority. Modi, aged 73, will match the record of the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who won the general elections in 1952, 1957, and 1962.
Key Appointments
Members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) from Andhra Pradesh, K Ram Mohan Naidu and Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, are expected to join the Union Cabinet. According to former TDP MP Galla Jayadev, Naidu will be appointed as a cabinet minister, while Pemmasani will take a minister of state position.
 Election Results and Coalition Dynamics
The BJP retained power despite a reduced seat tally of 240, down from 303, falling short of the majority mark of 272. The Congress announced that its leaders had not received invitations to the swearing-in ceremony, and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee stated her party would not attend.
 Consultations and Finalization
Senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and J P Nadda, have been consulting with allies such as N Chandrababu Naidu (TDP), Nitish Kumar (JD(U)), and Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena) to finalize their representation in the government. It is anticipated that key portfolios like home, finance, defense, external affairs, education, and culture will remain with the BJP, while allies may receive five to eight cabinet positions.
Potential New Cabinet Members
Likely candidates for the new cabinet include former chief ministers like Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Basavaraj Bommai, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Sarbananda Sonowal. Other potential appointees from allied parties include Ram Mohan Naidu (TDP), Lalan Singh, Sanjay Jha, Ram Nath Thakur (JD(U)), and Chirag Paswan (Lok Janshakti Party).
