In a recent chat with SPOTV News, director Kim Jin Min gave us the lowdown on why he picked Yoo Ah In for the role of Yoon Sang in the upcoming Netflix show, ‘Goodbye Earth.’ This series dives deep into the chaos of an approaching apocalypse, and Yoo Ah In plays the boyfriend of Jin Se Kyung, portrayed by Ahn Eun Jin.
Kim explained, “Ahn Eun Jin and Yoo Ah In are both represented by the same talent agency, which definitely played a part in the decision. I figured their existing bond would shine through on screen.” He added, “Since I’ve previously collaborated with Yoo Ah In on ‘Secret Affair,’ I knew he’d bring his A-game to this new role.”
Despite some recent drama surrounding Yoo Ah In, like allegations of drug use after filming wrapped up, Kim commended the actor’s professionalism and how he enriched the series with his performance. “Yoo Ah In really delved into his character, giving him layers that set a high standard for the rest of the cast,” Kim noted.
Kim wrapped up by expressing his satisfaction with the casting, saying, “It was crucial to have actors who could make their roles feel real, especially in a show tackling heavy themes like an impending apocalypse. Yoo Ah In and Ahn Eun Jin have definitely nailed it.”
‘Goodbye Earth’ zeroes in on how people cope with the countdown to an asteroid potentially crashing into Earth in just 200 days. You can catch it on Netflix later this year.
