Actor Sunny Deol, who achieved massive success with “Gadar 2” last year, faces serious allegations from Sorav Gupta, a real estate developer turned producer. Gupta, owner of Sundawn Entertainment Pvt Ltd, claims Deol cheated him out of Rs 2.55 crore. The accusations include cheating, extortion, and forgery.
Gupta alleges that in May 2016, Deol agreed to star in a film for Rs 4 crore, accepting Rs 1 crore in advance and another Rs 1 crore in October, yet did not start the shoot, opting to work on “Poster Boyz” instead. Over the years, numerous delays occurred. In 2023, Deol proposed a new project, “Ram Janmabhoomi,” with a budget of Rs 40 crore, to be shared between Gupta and another partner.
Despite assurances, Deol reportedly increased his fee and requested an additional Rs 50 lakh for his son’s wedding, promising high returns from satellite and digital sales. Gupta later received an unexpected agreement stating Deol’s fee was now Rs 8 crore plus Rs 2 crore from profits, along with an additional Rs 1 crore demand. Gupta claims he never agreed to these terms or signed such documents.
After spending around Rs 25 crore on the project, including Rs 2.55 crore paid to Deol, Gupta filed a police complaint. He reported that Deol’s office responded to a police notice claiming Deol was out of town on the required date.
