WhatsApp to Introduce Animated Emojis, a Feature Inspired by Skype

WhatsApp is reportedly testing animated emojis on its platform, a feature reminiscent of Skype’s long-standing animated emojis. These new emojis will include animations similar to some existing heart emojis on WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing these animated emojis in its beta versions for both Android and iOS. This feature allows users to send emojis with built-in animations, enhancing the messaging experience.

Skype, which has had animated emojis since 2004, serves as a model for WhatsApp’s new feature. Users familiar with Skype might remember its iconic emoji animations and the cute pencil animations that erase text. WhatsApp’s implementation is expected to be similar but could potentially offer better animation quality and resolution.

Currently, the animated emojis available in WhatsApp’s beta include a wink, a laughing face, and various heart emojis in different colors. This feature is still in the testing phase, and WhatsApp has not announced when it will be available in the stable version of the app.
