Musk vs. Moraes: Elon Musk Escalates Feud with Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice in Fiery Twitter Spat

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has intensified his conflict with Brazil’s Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes by comparing him to the Harry Potter villain, Lord Voldemort. This bold move follows X (formerly Twitter) announcing it may shut down operations in Brazil due to ongoing legal disputes.
In a viral tweet, Musk shared side-by-side images of Moraes and Voldemort with the caption, “The resemblance is uncanny.
The feud between Musk and Moraes escalated after Musk claimed Moraes threatened to arrest one of X’s legal representatives in Brazil. Ironically, Musk has also been compared to Voldemort, with some X employees avoiding directly mentioning him after his acquisition of the platform, referring to him as “the guy at the top.”
According to Forbes, the conflict began in April when X was forced to block certain popular accounts in Brazil without knowing the reasons. The block orders were part of an investigation into “digital militias” spreading disinformation. Musk called the orders “the most draconian demands of any country” and demanded Moraes’ resignation, accusing him of imposing massive fines and threatening to cut off Brazilians’ access to X.
More recently, X’s government affairs page stated that Moraes threatened to arrest one of its lawyers and impose a daily fine if the blocking orders weren’t followed. Musk vowed to restore the blocked accounts, leading Moraes to investigate him for obstruction of justice and incitement to crime.
