Hansal Mehta, director of Scam 1992, was among the first celebrities to react to a shocking viral video featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna pushing actress Anjali away, drawing massive backlash. Mehta shared the video on social media platform X (formerly called Twitter) and questioned, “Who is this scumbag?”
In response to Mehta’s post, a social media user attempted to troll him by sharing an old photo of Mehta kissing a woman on the lips and questioning, “Who is this scumbag in this Liplock photos @mehtahansal?”
Unfazed by the attempt at trolling, Mehta revealed that the person he was kissing in the photo is his wife, Safreena Husain. He clarified, “Your trolling won’t work… it’s a man kissing his wife, expressing love publicly. Not pushing a woman, displaying misogyny in public.”
Mehta had married Husain, his longtime partner of 17 years and a social worker, in an impromptu ceremony in 2022. The wedding, which took place at Taj Campton Place in San Francisco, California, was shared by Mehta on Instagram, where he expressed gratitude for love prevailing over all else in their lives.
On the work front, Mehta recently announced a new project titled Scam 2010: The Subrata Roy Saga, which will delve into the dramatic rise and fall of Subrata Roy, the controversial founder of the Sahara India Pariwar. The series will explore Roy’s business empire, legal battles, and their impact on investors and the financial landscape of India.
