Google Makes Email Replies Easier on Android

Google is simplifying how Gmail users on Android can reply to emails. According to a recent blog post on the Google Workspace website, users can now respond directly from the bottom of the conversation without opening a new screen.
Previously, when users selected “Reply,” “Reply all,” or “Forward” in the Gmail app, a full-screen compose view would open. With this update, Android users can scroll to the bottom of the email and start typing in the text box without switching screens, making it easier to reference the original message while drafting a reply.
Google noted that this feature is ideal for quick, simple responses. For longer replies, users can expand the text box to access additional formatting options.

Coming Soon to iPhone Users

Currently, this feature is exclusive to Android users, with no admin controls required. Google plans to roll it out to iOS devices later this year.

How to Use the New Reply Feature on Android

1. Open the Gmail app on your Android device.
2. Open the email you want to reply to.
3. Scroll down and tap into the text box at the bottom of the screen.
4. Type your reply and tap the send icon.
5. Tap the “Expand to full screen” icon if you need a larger compose view.
