WhatsApp Developing Offline File Sharing Feature Similar to AirDrop

WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to share files without an internet connection, similar to Apple’s AirDrop and Google’s Nearby Share. This feature will enable users to send documents, videos, photos, and other files without using their mobile data.

 Key Points:

New Functionality : Spotted by WABetaInfo in January, WhatsApp has been testing this feature on Android and is now working on an iOS version.
QR Code Transfer : On iOS, users will scan a QR code to initiate file transfers, leveraging the built-in Quick Share feature.
File Size : This feature is particularly useful for sharing large files, especially in areas with poor or no network connectivity.
End-to-End Encryption : As with other WhatsApp features, this offline file transfer tool is expected to offer end-to-end encryption.

Development Status:

The offline file-sharing feature is still in development, and it is uncertain when it will be available to all users.
