Vettaiyan Worldwide Box Office Update: Rajinikanth’s Film Reaches Rs 200 Crore, Struggles After Monday Decline

Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth and directed by TJ Gnanavel, crossed Rs 200 crore at the worldwide box office after 7 days but saw a sharp decline in collections following a Monday crash. The film performed well in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and overseas markets but struggled in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and the North. While it remains the second-highest Kollywood grosser of 2024, its chances of reaching Rs 250 crore look slim. The film features an investigation drama revolving around SP Athiyan IPS, an encounter specialist, and the moral dilemmas of justice.

Rajinikanth’s latest film *Vettaiyan*, directed by TJ Gnanavel, crossed Rs 200 crore at the global box office on its 7th day after a strong start but faced a significant crash on Monday. By the end of the extended opening weekend, the movie had grossed Rs 183 crore worldwide, but the steep Monday drop hindered its recovery, despite no major competition before Diwali.

The film struggled particularly in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and northern regions, with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and overseas markets unable to sustain momentum. The Rs 200 crore milestone may be the film’s last major achievement, as reaching Rs 250 crore seems unlikely.

Despite its challenges, *Vettaiyan* still ranks as the second-highest-grossing Kollywood film of 2024, just behind *The Greatest of All Time*. However, upcoming Kollywood releases could surpass its earnings.
