Upcoming ‘The Witcher’ Projects at Netflix: What’s Next After Season 4 Wraps Production
Explore Netflix’s upcoming The Witcher releases, from the anime Sirens of the Deep debuting in February 2025 to the highly anticipated Season 4 and beyond. Dive into cast updates, plot details, and release expectations.
Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ series has been a cornerstone of its fantasy lineup since the initial announcement back in May 2017. Through years of adaptations, spinoffs, and an evolving fan base, the franchise now approaches its final chapters. Here’s a comprehensive look at what’s coming, ordered by anticipated release date. Note: The scrapped kids’ ‘Witcher’ project from Geeked Week won’t be covered here.
‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep’ (February 2025 Release)
The next big chapter for fans is the feature-length anime The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep, set for a global release on February 11, 2025. Unveiled at Geeked Week, this project is brought to life by Studio Mir, creators of the acclaimed The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The new anime adapts A Little Sacrifice, a story from Andrzej Sapkowski’s works that did not make it into the first season, positioned between episodes 5 and 6.
Voice talent includes Doug Cockle reprising his iconic role as Geralt, following Henry Cavill’s departure from the live-action series. Anya Chalotra and Joey Batey will return as Yennefer and Jaskier, respectively, with Christina Wren joining as Essi Daven.

‘The Witcher’ Season 4 (Expected Late 2025)
Anticipation is high for Season 4, which will mark Liam Hemsworth’s debut as Geralt of Rivia, taking over from Henry Cavill. Filming wrapped in October 2024, and while Netflix has not revealed an exact premiere date, it is expected in the second half of 2025.
Season 4 promises an intricate narrative, focusing on separate arcs for the main characters: Geralt with his Hansa, Ciri and the Rats, and Yennefer leading the Lodge of Sorceresses. Notable additions to the cast include Laurence Fishburne as Regis, Danny Woodburn as Zoltan, Sharlto Copley as Bonhart, and James Purefoy as Skellen.
Final Season: ‘The Witcher’ Season 5 (Coming 2026)
Netflix confirmed that Season 5 will be the last in the main series, officially closing the chapter on this beloved saga. Filming is slated to begin in March 2025 and extend for about eight months. Although the release date remains unconfirmed, a 2026 debut seems likely based on production timelines. Liam Hemsworth will reprise his role, leading the show’s conclusion.
‘The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale’ (Release Status: TBA)
Rounding out the list is The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale, a spinoff rooted in The Rats, which filmed briefly in South Africa in 2023. Initially planned as a series with an extended shoot, production was cut short to just over a month, leaving the future of this project uncertain. Reports suggest that Netflix has considered incorporating the footage into Season 4, though more recent updates label it as The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale, possibly as a standalone special episode.
The ensemble for The Rats features Ben Radcliffe as Giselher, Christelle Elwin as Mistle, Fabian McCallum as Kayleigh, and Aggy K. Adams as Iskra, with supporting roles from Dolph Lundgren, Deoudone van der Merwe, and others. However, its release fate remains to be decided by Netflix.
