ISRO Launches Free AI and ML Course with Certificate: Registration, Details, and More

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) have opened online registration for a 5-day free course on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The course will run from August 19 to August 23, 2024, and aims to equip participants with a strong foundation in AI and ML.

Eligibility for ISRO’s Free AI and ML Course

The course is designed for professionals seeking to apply AI, ML, and Deep Learning (DL) in geospatial applications. It is also suitable for students and researchers in fields such as civil engineering, computer science, data analytics, geoinformatics, and geomatics. There is no fee for the course, but seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Course Content and Study Material

The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including an introduction to AI, ML, and DL, various machine learning methods (supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning), and advanced deep learning techniques such as CNN, RNN, R-CNN, Faster RCNN, SSD, and YOLO. Participants will also gain practical experience with Google Earth Engine and Python programming for developing machine and deep learning models.

Course Dates and Topics

August 19: Introduction to AI/ML and DL – Dr. Poonam Seth Tiwari (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
August 20: Methods in Machine Learning: Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement – Dr. Hina Pande (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
August 21: Deep Learning Concepts: CNN, RNN, R-CNN, Faster RCNN, SSD, YOLO, etc., and Their Applications – Dr. Poonam Seth Tiwari (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
August 22: Machine Learning Through Google Earth Engine – Dr. Kamal Pandey (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)
August 23: Python for Machine/Deep Learning Models – Ravi Bhandari (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

Certificate of Completion

Participants who complete the course with at least 70% attendance will receive a ‘Course Participation Certificate,’ which can be downloaded from the ISRO Learning Management System (LMS).

How to Register

Interested individuals can apply directly through the provided link. Registration is automatic, and participants will receive login credentials for the ISRO LMS.
This course is part of the IIRS Outreach Programme, which has grown significantly since its inception in 2007. The programme now includes over 3,500 network institutes, benefiting a wide range of participants from universities, government departments, research institutes, geospatial industries, and NGOs.
