Android users will soon be able to access their files through Microsoft Windows File Explorer.

Microsoft is testing a new feature that will allow Android users to access their phone files directly through Windows 11 File Explorer. This feature is gradually being rolled out to Windows testers with Android phones across various Windows Insider channels. It enables users to wirelessly browse files and folders on their Android phones.

How It Works

When integrated, your Android device will appear in File Explorer like a regular USB device. Users will be able to copy, move, rename, and delete files between their PC and Android devices. This new feature promises to be faster than using the existing Phone Link app.

 Steps to Enable the Feature

While the feature is still in the testing phase, you can try it out by joining the Windows Insider program. After enrolling in any Windows 11 preview channel, you can experience upcoming features and provide feedback to help improve them.

 To enable the feature:

1. Go to Settings
2. Select Bluetooth and devices
3. Click on Mobile devices
4. Select Manage devices
5. Give permissions to allow your PC to connect with your Android phone

A prompt will appear to grant access to File Explorer, notifications, and camera.

Requirements

– Devices powered by Android 11 or higher

This feature is especially useful for users who need to access and manage documents on both their PC and Android devices, offering a convenient way to share and download important files.
