Vettaiyan Box Office Collection on Day 2: Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan Starrer Earns ₹24 Crore After Strong Opening

The cop drama Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, continues to excel at the box office after its release on October 10. The film earned ₹24 crore nett in India on its second day, following a strong opening of ₹31.7 crore. Its total nett domestic collection now stands at ₹55.5 crore. The film is particularly performing well in Tamil Nadu, with gross earnings of ₹49.1 crore over the first two days. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, Vettaiyan addresses serious themes such as encounter killings and corruption in education and features a talented cast, including Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil film debut.


 

The cop drama *Vettaiyan*, featuring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan, is performing exceptionally well at the box office following its release on October 10. The film garnered ₹24 crore nett in India on its second day, adding to its robust opening day earnings.

According to Sacnilk, *Vettaiyan* debuted with ₹31.7 crore on its opening day. It continued to thrive on day two, with an additional ₹23.8 crore, bringing its total nett domestic collection to ₹55.5 crore.

On its second day, the film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 58.53% in Tamil Nadu, with Chennai showcasing a remarkable 72.50% occupancy across 1,042 shows. Bengaluru also performed well, with a 44.50% occupancy from 455 shows.

*Vettaiyan* is particularly resonating with audiences in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, having grossed ₹49.1 crore in Tamil Nadu alone within the first two days. With the weekend approaching, projections indicate that its domestic total could surpass ₹70 crore.

Directed by TJ Gnanavel, *Vettaiyan* tackles serious issues such as encounter killings and corruption in the education sector. The film features an impressive cast, including Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil film debut, alongside Manju Warrier, Kishore, Ritika Singh, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati.

This marks Rajinikanth’s first major release since the blockbuster *Jailer*, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, which earned ₹650 crore globally during its theatrical run.
