Putin Criticizes Western Nations Regarding India Ahead of BRICS Summit

Ahead of the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, President Vladimir Putin addressed Western nations, using India as an example. He clarified that BRICS is not an anti-Western organization but a non-Western coalition, emphasizing that its purpose is not to oppose anyone. He highlighted India’s neutral stance and noted that other BRICS members share a similar outlook. Putin also praised Prime Minister Modi for his engagement on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, appreciating Modi’s consistent communication on the issue during their conversations.

 


As the BRICS summit in Russia approaches next week, President Vladimir Putin addressed the media, using India as a reference point to discuss Western nations. When questioned about whether BRICS was created in opposition to the West, Putin clarified that it is not an anti-Western group but rather a coalition that is non-Western. He stressed that the organization’s aim has never been to confront anyone, highlighting India’s position as a significant member that does not adopt an anti-Western or anti-European stance. He noted that other BRICS members share a similar perspective. Additionally, Putin commended Prime Minister Modi for his approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, mentioning that Modi regularly brings up the issue during their discussions and expresses his views, which Putin appreciates.
